Title: Circulation Assistant and Shelver
Reports To: Circulation Manager
Wage: $15.00/hour
Work Schedule:
Part-time (14 hours per week)
Wednesday & Thursday 4-8
Every Saturday 9-3

Job Summary:
This position requires a wide range of public service, data entry and paraprofessional duties related to the general services and operations of the circulation department.
- Use an online circulation system to check out materials to patrons, check in returned materials, renew library materials, locate library materials, and place holds and requests.
- Register patrons for a library card or statewide public library access card (PLAC); processes library card applications; renew and replace lost cards.
- Accept payment for fines and fees, subscription and PLAC fees, also receives and records miscellaneous revenue (copies, faxes, etc.) received at the circulation desk
- Schedule meeting room use with the library’s electronic calendaring software.
- Explain and enforce library circulation policies and resolve simple patron issues.
- Empty book drop
- Provide basic assistance, maintenance, and support for copy/fax machine.
- Direct patrons to each department or other appropriate locations.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls; Aware of staff schedules and library activities
- Inspect returned library materials for damage. Clean materials and prepare them for use.
- Open bags/boxes when Evergreen shipment is delivered. Process holds.
- Pull holds and prepare Evergreen shipment for next day pickup.
- Shelving library materials, straightening and organizing the collection
- Other tasks assigned by Circulation Manager
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be 18 years in age
- High school diploma required
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with a mouse and keyboard
- Personable, with a good work image and attitude, detailed orientation, and enthusiasm for public service
- Able to lift 50 pounds, stand for a reasonable length of time, bend and stoop
- Fluent in English both oral and written; articulate over the phone and in person
