Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.
Banned Books Week is an annual celebration of the freedom to read that brings attention to books that have been challenged or removed from libraries and schools. It’s an opportunity to recognize the importance of access to a wide range of books, ideas, and perspectives.
A book challenge is an attempt to remove or restrict access to a book based on objections, while a book ban occurs when that material is actually removed.
Celebrate with KPL! Stop by Kendallville Public Library or the Limberlost Branch to pick up a Banned Books Week sticker and bookmark while supplies last. Follow us on Facebook throughout the week for our “Guess the Banned Book” posts, too!
Want to learn more about Banned Books Week, book challenges, and the freedom to read? Visit the American Library Association’s Banned & Challenged Books page.
Explore ideas. Discover different perspectives. Let Books Be.

Thank you to our READ Donors!
The last time we conducted our READ (Reading, Education and Discovery) fundraising campaign was back in 2020. Then, we began the letter to supporters with “The Kendallville Public Library is engaging with the community like never before.” Little did we know then how even more true that would be now!
Every day we strive to bring new initiatives to our community to improve the quality of life for those around us. We’re partnering with local organizations to deepen the impact we have on the people we serve. We live here, we work here, and we are doing all we can to help the area thrive.
Our donors have recognized the work we are doing, and really came through this year. So far we have received donations totalling $3,175 earmarked to a variety of programs at the Kendallville Public Library. THANK YOU!

Take a Trip to the ACD Museum!
In addition to passes to Science Central and the Botanical Conservatory, KPL has added a Family Pass to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn. This pass is good for up to 2 adults at the same address and their dependent children.
In the museum, most of the cars are drivable and many are in carefully-restored condition. The museum has a state-of-the-art Collections Conservation Center that was completed in 2015 to support the care and preservation of this priceless collection.
Passes are first-come, first-serve.
